Scand J Rehab Med 1986;18: 155-157. The Fugl-Meyer Assessment is the gold standard to assess motor function of post-stroke hemiparesis (13, 14). The Fugl-Meyer Assessment for Upper Extremity (FMA-UE) has sound psychometric properties of reliability (15–20), validity (15–17, 20), and responsiveness (15, 16, 19, 20). 4.2 Evaluation of Upper Extremity There is a wide range of upper extremity rehabilitation outcomes measures which have been utilized. They can be categorized into broad categories listed below: 4.2.1 Upper Extremity Asessement and Outcome Measures Category Rationale Individual Assessment Tools Motor Function Assess gross motor Upper extremity motor function was measured by the Fugl-Meyer Assessment – Upper Extremity, and Stroke Also called a “brain attack” and happens when brain cells die because of inadequate blood flow. 20% of cases are a hemorrhage in the brain caused by a rupture or leakage from a blood vessel. 80% of cases are also know as a “schemic stroke”, or the formation of a blood clot in a post-stroke upper extremity motor rehabilitation research and clinical practice are accurately quantifying impairment, characterizing recovery and producing a score that has clear functional interpretability.

View as PowerPoint Slide One of the most widely recognized and clinically relevant measures of body function impairment after stroke is the Fugl-Meyer (FM) assessment. 3 Of its 5 domains (motor, sensory, balance, range of motion, joint pain), the motor domain, which includes an assessment of the upper extremity (UE) and lower extremity (LE), has well-established reliability and validity as an indicator of motor 2021-04-09 · OBJECTIVE: To translate the Fugl-Meyer Assessment of the Upper Extremity (FMA-UE) into Danish and to establish the inter-tester reliability, responsiveness, Minimal Clinically Important Difference (MCID) and concurrent validity of the FMA-UE in a population of stroke patients. METHOD: The Main Outcome Measures: Fugl-Meyer Upper extremity scale, Modified Wolf Motor Function Test, University of Maryland Arm Questionnaire for Stroke, Motor cortex activation (fMRI).ResultsThe COMBO Objective: To investigate the dimensionality and construct validity of the Fugl-Meyer Assessment of the upper extremity by using Rasch analysis.

The upper-extremity portion of the Fugl-Meyer Scale (UE-FM) is one of the most established and commonly used outcome measures in stroke rehabilitative trials. The Fugl-Meyer Upper Extremity Assessment will be the primary outcome to determine the efficacy of the technology for UE motor control recovery. This is a performance-based measure of UE impairment The Fugl-Meyer Assessment upper limb section is used extensively in stroke rehabilitation research and yet many clinicians appear to be unfamiliar with this measure. Furthermore, the original description of the content, procedure and scoring of the Fugl-Meyer Assessment upper limb section is ambiguous. The maximum possible score in Fugl-Meyer scale is 226, which corresponds to full sensory-motor recovery.
